Sonoma ZinfandelSonoma Zinfandel

Vineyards & Cellar Treatment

This limited production wine comes from select vineyards in Sonoma County. Fermentation was conducted in small 2,500 gallon redwood casks at 80 to 85 degrees F. for seven days before the juice was pressed. The wine was then transferred to 2,000 gallon oak upright tanks to undergo fermentation and then placed into small French oak barrels where it was allowed to mature for 16 months. In order to maintain the integrity of the wine, it was not fined or cold stabilized. This is a rich, complex wine with layers of black cherries, plums, and currants. The finish is highlighted by good texture and length. A wine suitable for aging or for enjoying now.

Tasting Notes

A rich, complex wine with layers of black cherries, plums, currants and a lengthy finish.

"The style of Zinfandel that we like is dry, full bodied, and fruity with medium tannin and oak complexity," declares Ozdiker. "We like a wine that is drinkable when it is two years old, but that will also continue to improve for an additional ten to twenty years. Our Zinfandel, being of grapes from one distinctive area, has a unique complexity. Sonoma county grapes offer their rich, peppery character, and the traditional berry-like fruitiness. A Zinfandel of this power best complements spicy, rich foods." ------- Armagan Ozdiker, Proprietor
